Dual-band antenna design by using EBG as Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) ground plane
José Pereira
It is known that EBG can work as an artificial magnetic ground plane in certain frequency bands. As a result, there are many researchers focusing on how to use EBG as ground plane to improve antenna working performance or achieve low profile antenna design. The objective of this work is to study some possible EBG geometries with dualband characteristics that can be used as an Artificial Magnetic Conductor (AMC) for WLAN Co-planar antenna in order to achieve a low profile structure. From several simulated results, the geometry with Jerusalem Cross slot has been chosen. The simulated results show that the EBG antenna can work properly at the desired frequency bands with improved gain. A prototype has been made and measured. The full paper will show some of the measured results and their comparison with the simulated ones
